Welcome to the HHS Medical Academy
If you are a student at Hartselle High School and are interested in pursuing a healthcare career, then the Medical Academy might be the place for you! Whether you want to pursue medicine, nursing, pharmacy, physical therapy, or biomedical sciences, there are opportunities awaiting you in our program.
Beginning with the 2019-2020 school year, the Medical Academy will offer the following classes:
- Orientation to Medicine 9th Grade
- Foundations of Medicine 10th or 11th Grade (This class will count as your health credit needed to graduate)
- Therapeutic Services 11th or 12th Grade*
- Medical Internship 12th Grade (2 credits)**
- Sports Medicine* 11th or 12th Grade
- Pharmacy Science* 12th Grade
- Human Body Structure and Function (Weighted Science Core Credit) 11th or 12th Grade
- Medical Academy Lab (Instructor Invitation Only) 10th-12th Grade
*Foundations of Medicine is a prerequisite for this course
**Foundations of Medicine and Therapeutic Services are the prerequisite courses
Students completing Foundations, Therapeutics, Internship, and Anatomy or AP Biology will receive the white honor cord to wear during the graduation ceremony.
Our Medical Academy is also expanded to the Jr High for the 2019-2020 school year. Please email the Medical Academy Instructors for more information.

The Medical Academy is excited to announce our partnership with the National Technical Honor Society! Medical Academy students that meet the eligibility requirements will be invited to join at the beginning of spring semester. Students meeting the required benchmark on practice tests will earn a scholarship to cover the cost of the national exams- Binder from Foundations
