Bucky Garner

Hello, my name is Bucky Garner and I am so proud to be a second-career teacher and coach in my hometown of Hartselle, Alabama.  I graduated from Hartselle High School in 1984, and I feel so blessed to be part of such a wonderful school and outstanding community.  In high school, I participated in many school activities and was a member of the Tiger basketball team.  Many wonderful teachers at Hartselle during those early years influenced my life and inspired me to go on to college after graduation.  My goal at that time was to either attend an engineering school, or learn about education and become a teacher and coach like my mentor - William Booth - who taught me along with many others the beauty of Calculus.  I decided to attend UAH and study engineering after getting a summer job at Computer Sciences Corporation in Huntsville, and I worked for CSC and Motorola UDS until I graduated from UAH in 1988.  After graduation, I accepted a full-time postion at Motorola as a Design Engineer, and worked for over 25 years in the high-tech community.  During my first career years, I had tremendous learning opportunities that allowed me to travel the world and learn about life, including living in Europe, Silicon Valley, Arizona, and Boston, MA.  My journey now continues as a second-career teacher of Mathematics and Computer Science.  I firmly believe that you must have passion for what you do to be successful in life, and I am the most excited I have been in many years to be allowed to work with and influence such an outstanding group of student-athletes and young adults at Hartselle High School.
