Required Student Supplies

  • Art I & II Students:

    • Black Ticonderoga Pencils- These are No. 2 wooden pencils; other brands of wooden No. 2 pencils are fine as well.  A set of drawing pencils is a great option, but is not required. (Mechanical pencils will only be used for technical drawings.)
    • Erasers- Buy several pencil-top or handheld erasers to last the year.  Pink Pearl erasers are one brand that erase cleanly.  Kneaded erasers are another great option, but are not required. Kneaded erasers are recommended for upper level art students.  They erase both pencil and charcoal and can be shaped to fit small areas.
    • Sketchbook- 7"x10" to 9"x12” mixed media sketchbook with heavyweight paper (80lbs or higher) such as the Canson XL Mixed Media sketchbook. Students may reuse sketchbooks from prior art classes if they have space remaining.

Art III, Art IV, & AP 2-D Art and Design:

    • Sketchbook- 7"x10" to 9"x12” mixed media sketchbook with heavyweight paper (80lbs or higher) such as the Canson XL Mixed Media sketchbook. Students may reuse sketchbooks from prior art classes if they have space remaining.
    • Small Round Pointed Brushes- Buy at least one very small pointed brush for use with acrylic paint.
    • Set of Drawing Pencils- Look for a set with a good range that has dark pencils(6B, 8B, etc.). The pencils with higher B values will be darker. The Faber-Castell Pitt Graphite Matt pencils are a high quality set recommended for AP. These are not reflective and they range up to 14B in darkness.
    • Kneaded Erasers- Buy two. One for use with pencil and the other for use with charcoal.
