Dr. Beth Davis

Dr. Beth A. Davis recently retired from 23 years in the Decatur City School System.  Previously, she taught in Jefferson County and Homewood in Alabama and in Natchez, Mississippi. She brings 29 years of elementary music teaching experience with her to Barkley Bridge. Her degrees are from The University of Southern Mississippi(1990) and The University of Alabama (1999, 2014)

Dr. Davis is certified by the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards in the area of Early and Middle Childhood Music (1996, 2016).  She holds three levels of Orff-Schulwerk certification (1996, 1999, 2008), First Steps in Music certification (2017), Conversational Solfege certification (2018), and Level 1 World Music Drumming certification(2018).  She continues her lifelong learning as a member of these professional organizations: National Association for Music Educators (NAfME), Alabama Music Educators Association (AMEA), Alabama Orff-Schulwerk Association (AOSA), and Fiereabend Association for Music Education(FAME).
Dr. Davis also enjoys teaching and mentoring future music educators.  She has supervised 31 student teachers from The University of Alabama, The University of North Alabama, and The University of Alabama Huntsville since 2002. She continues to be an adjunct professor for both AA&M and UAH.
She is married to Dr. Carl B. Davis, former choral director at Decatur High school 1996-2018.  After retiring, her husband went to nursing school and is now a nurse at Huntsville Hospital.  They have two daughters who are both attending The University of Alabama. One is a graduate teaching assistant in biology working on cardiac research with her major professor. The other is a senior pursuing a degree in Human Performance-Exercise Science.  She is on the varsity women's rowing team.  For fun, Dr. Davis enjoys cheering on the Crimson Tide, reading, walking, watching drum corps, and spending time with family and friends.
