Mrs. Amanda Godsey

I absolutely love my job.  I have been teaching well... let's just say a long time.  I have three children-Sloan, Olivia, and Luke and a GoldenDoodle named May.  Sloan is married to Blair Sittason and lives in Hartselle with their adorable son, Grayson and awesome dog, Miller. She teaches AP Economics, AP Government and US History at Hartselle High School. Olivia is a 2nd grade teacher at Crestline and is married to Britt Gillette. They have a smart hunting dog named Hammer. Luke is a graduate assistant for the UAB Blazers' football team. He is chasing his dream of becoming a colleigate coach. He is engaged to Audrey Reeder. After serving sixteen years and becoming the winningest Coach in Hartselle History, Bob, my husband, is now the head football coach at Madison Academy. Hartselle will always be a special place to our family! Once a tiger always a tiger!

I received my undergraduate and a graduate degree from the University of North Alabama.  In 2000, I was recognized in Washington DC as a recipient of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST).  In 2004, I became a National Board Certified Teacher!!! November 2, 2020 I successfully fulfilled the requirements of a Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT).

My career started in Kindergarten.  After 3 years, I moved to a Multi-age classroom of 1st and 2nd graders.  I taught Multi-age for 10 years.  I looped for a couple of years and then ended up in 2nd grade-the grade I love!!!
