Mrs. Elisa Harris, Career Tech, Federal Programs, and Gifted Program Coordinator
I am excited to begin my twenty-first year in education and my eighteenth in Hartselle City Schools. I am originally from Tuscaloosa and a graduate of Hillcrest High School, the University of Montevallo, and the University of Alabama. I began my teaching career at Shelby County High School in Columbiana, Alabama. When my husband completed Optometry School at UAB in 1995, we moved our small family of three to Decatur where he began practicing Optometry at Decatur Eye Institute.
In 1995 I began teaching Chemistry and Physical Science part-time at Wallace State Community College until deciding to stay at home with our two children. We moved to Hartselle in 1996 because of the outstanding reputation of the school system. It was after our third child started first grade in 2005 that I decided to return to teaching. I taught third through eighth grade Gifted for five years at Barkley Bridge and Hartselle Junior High. I then moved to Hartselle Junior High full-time to teach sixth through eighth grade gifted. I started Hartselle Junior High's first robotics and Science Olympiad teams. After seven years of coaching robotics, I left the classroom to become the Instructional Partner and Instructional Technology Facilitator at Crestline Elementary. I had the opportunity in 2018 to return to the classroom at Hartselle High School and begin the Manufacturing Academy. I earned industry credentials to teach Advanced Manufacturing dual enrollment courses and build the program. I am also an A Plus Middle School Computer Science E3 facilitator, which keeps me very busy during the summer training teachers across our state.
I developed an interest in educational technologies and decided to go back to school to earn my Educational Specialist degree (which I completed in 2016) and I have also finished all of my course work for the Instructional Technology - Instructional Specialist Doctoral Program at the University of Alabama and have my dissertation remaining.
My Family . . .

We also have our two fur babies, Smalls and Rookie, that keep us entertained and fill our empty nest. Smalls is our 150 pound Bullmastiff and Rookie is 130 pound Bernese Mountain dog. They are the sweetest boys.
