Crestline: Winner of President’s Award for Exceptional Performance for a Family Event
Congratulations to Crestline Elementary School for being selected as the winner of the President’s Award for Exceptional Performance for a Family Event in the Spring 2016 Scholastic Book Fairs program. Crestline was the only elementary school in the State to be recognized by Scholastic.
Crestline adopted “Feelin' Groovy” for their Book Fair theme. Students and teachers learned dance routines that included 60's dances to 60's music. Songs included "Born to Be Wild", "Surfin USA", and "YMCA". The physical education teacher incorporated dance tutorials into his classes and teachers used the dances as brain breaks in the classroom. This was a school-wide event! The Book Fair kick off showcased the student and faculty’s hard work to parents and visitors of the family friendly event.
The book fair's funds increased by $3,000 from the year before. After the fair ended, Crestline entered the Scholastic book fair contest by writing a 500-word essay and submitting pictures from the event. Crestline earned the impressive Spring 2016 National Elementary School's President's Award for Exceptional Performance in Family Event and $500 Scholastic dollars to spend.
