Mrs. Erica Griffin

I am a graduate of Maryville College and earned my B.A. in English and History with teacher licensure.  After graduation, I moved to Cornersville, TN, (a place I had never even heard of!) and taught for three and a half years; while there,  I taught honors level English classes, along with all 10th grade English classes and some 11th grade classes.  I was also the head coach for the girls' soccer team for three years. Upon having my son, Ben, in December 2003, I stayed home with him until coming to Hartselle in August of 2005.  I am married to Corey Griffin, a 1996 graduate of Hartselle High.  Corey is employed by People's Bank in Hartselle.  In March of 2008, I had my youngest son, Cole.

I completed my Master's degree in Secondary Education with a Language Arts emphasis in the summer of 2010 at the University of North Alabama.  I also completed my Education Specialist's degree at UAB in 2013.

In addition to teaching at Hartselle HS, I also work as a consultant for A+ College Ready and for the National Math and Science Initiative.  This work involves writing curriculum and traveling the state and country to lead grade-level trainings for teachers and students.

While at Hartselle I have taught English 9, English 10 (regular and Honors), and English 11 (regular, Honors, and Pre AP).  I now have the honor of teaching AP English Language and Composition (also offered as a dual enrollment option through Calhoun Community College) and Pre AP English 10.

My hobbies include spending time with family and friends, attending sporting events, and running.  My family and I are blessed beyond measure to be active members at First Baptist Church in Hartselle.
