Mrs. Dana Jetton

My name is Dana Jetton. Being the School Counselor at Barkely Bridge Elementary is an honor and a blessing!

I have been in education for over twenty years. I have taught a variety of grades at the elementary level, have been a Math Coach for kindergarten through eighth grade, and I have been a School Counselor for over a decade. From the time I began my career, my goal was to be a School Counselor. It is a calling! I am invested in my students and am very passionate about my role in these young lives.

I am married to Ron Jetton and, together, we are blessed with four children and a grand-daughter. Our children are quickly crossing into adulthood and learning all that has to offer and require of them. Gavin works in the Food & Service Industry. Thomas recently graduated from Auburn University, works in Emergency Medicine and soon plans to get married and begin medical school. Gabrielle is studying to become an Obstetric Sonographer. Will is a freshman at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, where he was accepted to EMSAP. Since the birth of our precious grand-daughter, Haven, we have learned that we love being Pops and Nana. To round out our crew, our four-legged family members, Porsche (Yorkie) and Nola (Goldendoodle), bring us infinite love, laughter, and snuggles.

I have lived in Alabama all of my life and in the Madison area since 1996. I was born in Birmingham, grew up in Jackson County, and have spent a great deal of time in Franklin County on our family farm hiking, riding four wheelers, and getting into other outdoor adventures. For fun, I love nothing more than spending time with my family. We love to travel and have family game nights. I also enjoy playing the piano, reading, and listening to praise and country music. The older I become, the more I enjoy staying up to date on current events and knowing what is going on in the world around us.

As an educator, it is both a privilege and a responsibility to be a lifelong learner. I am currently working toward my Educational Specialist Degree in Counseling at Auburn University in Montgomery. Previously, I earned a Master of Science from Samford University in Instructional Leadership, a Master of Education for School Counseling from the University of West Alabama for School Counseling, and a Bachelor of Science at Athens State University for Elementary Education.

If I can be of assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. I am eager to help our students and families at BBE with social-emotional tools, academic goals and support options, and last but not least, career exploration and development.

"Popcorn is prepared in the same pot, with the same heat, in the same oil and yet, the kernels do not all pop at the same time. Please remember this if you start to compare one child to another. Their turn to pop is coming!" ~Author Unknown
