I have lived in Hartselle my entire life. I graduated from Hartselle High School in 1987. I am married to Matt, who also graduated from Hartselle High. I have three children, Haley 22, Grant 20, and Gavin 18. Haley graduated from UAB and is working Huntsville as an electrical engineer. Grant is currently a juinor at UAH and studying mechanical engineering. Gavin is a senior at HHS and plays football. I have a German Shepherd named Axel. I enjoy watching sports, reading, running, and shopping.
I began my teaching experience at F.E. Burleson in 1991. My elementary principal, Stewart Bennett, hired me. I had the privilege of teaching with my personal 2nd-5th grade teachers. I taught 4 years before transferring to Barkley Bridge Elementary where I currently teach. In 2005, I began training teachers for AMSTI during the summers. I enjoy learning new and innovative strategies to use in the classroom. In the spring of 2009, I began working on my certification in Gifted and Talented at the University of Alabama. I completed this certification in the summer of 2010. In 2015, I helped train teachers for PLTW Launch STEM program. I have taught 18 years in third grade and have completed 9 as a Gifted Specialist. I am currently the Gifted Specialist and thankful for the opportunity I have to touch the lives of so many.
